Mr. M A Kalam - Advisor:
Mr. Mohammed Abul Kalam has been a significant part of MODERN since its leap into the manufacturing sector. He has since played a monumental part as an Advisor in ensuring the constant growth and enrichment of the group in the competitive market. Mr. Kalam believes in creating a sustainable growth in which the company not only advances in quantity and quality but also creates a process of production which is environmentally beneficial.
Mr. M A Kalam, Managing Director of T.K Group of Industries, started his career in commodity trading in 1972. He gradually started his own edible oil refinery plant T.K Oil Refinery in Kalurghat, Chattogram in 1981. This was only the beginning in the creation of one of the most diversified and successful business conglomerates in Bangladesh. He is considered to be one of the most valued clients to most of the financial institutions, both local and international. Under his dynamic leadership, T.K Group of Industries not only continued to excel in the new millennium but also has achieved a unique image for itself as being one of the most stable, profitable and ethical conglomerates in Bangladesh. Currently there are 42 industries under the umbrella of T.K Group of Industries most of which are currently in smooth operation and its products and services range from edible oil, cement, steel, leather, paper, textile, tea, veneer & particle boards etc. T.K Group is one of the top five players in the edible oil and vegetable fat, paper, steel, and commodity trading sectors in Bangladesh.
Mr. Kalam is an entrepreneurial philanthropist, who believes in relief, improvement and social reform. That’s why he has been actively involved in creating and improving many educational institutions and medical healthcare. He is one of the founding members of North South University to name one from the enormous list.
Mr. Abu Sufian Chowdhury - Managing Director:
A visionary, charismatic leader, mostly renowned in Polyester & Filament yarn manufacturing sector, overseeing the company’s business from last three decade. Mr. Abu Sufian Chowdhury is by born in Chittagong, graduated from University of Chittagong and engaged to serve the nation with a clear goal, vision & mission by his business.
Mr. Sufian is highly aware of and compliant to the changing flows in the national market of Polyester Filament yarn and is passionate about CSR and Sustainability in his main genetic code. He has been instrumental in developing a good reputation and continued success for MODERN. His dynamic leadership brought in growth opportunities for the company resulting in the evolution of more diversified industries for Modern. In a span of three decades MODERN has grown and diversified into Shrimp Hatchery, Man made Fibre Manufacturing (Filament & Fibre), Textiles & Chemical Process industries. Modern had employed many more people. His enthusiasm for excelling, harvesting, and cultivating innovation has roped in professionals from different fields to join the business and articulate their talents to transcending lengths.
Mr. Sufian is main mastermind of the group, holding the position of Managing Director of Modern Poly Industries Limited, Modern Hatchery Limited, Bismillah Fabrics Limited, Super Petro Chemical Limited & Modern Syntex Limited. He has also involved in several philanthropic organisations, listed as the member of Chattogram Kidney Foundation, Rogi Kolyan Samity, Chattogram Maa O Shishu General Hospital, Bhatiary Golf & Country Club [L-463(B)].
