Our People Principles, the Foundation of our success: At Modern Group, our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to building a sustainable business that is commercially successful, socially empowering, and environmentally responsible. This commitment is upheld through our core People Principles as it’s the first PET polymerization plant related to the Textile sector in Bangladesh:
A Safe and Healthy Workplace: We provide a safe and healthy working environment for every employee, in every location.
A Culture of Respect and Inclusion: We foster a diverse and inclusive organizational culture where every colleague is treated with dignity and respect. We maintain a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and victimization.
Global Standards, Local Understanding: While we operate across different countries and cultures, adapting to local norms and laws, we uphold consistent core principles. We strive for every Modern employee, regardless of role or location, to feel proud of our company.
Investment in Growth: We are dedicated to the personal and professional development of our people, believing that their growth is integral to our shared success.
Environmental sustainability: Our Proactive Approach: Modern Group is dedicated to exceeding environmental standards by continuously mitigating our impact and adapting for a better planet. We have integrated sustainability into our operations through the following initiatives:
Energy Efficiency & Generation:
Boiler Economizer: Installed to capture waste heat, reducing natural gas consumption and saving up to 50% of generated steam.
Solar Power: Utilization of solar panels to reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based electricity (Under process).
LED Lighting: Widespread installation of energy-saving LED lights.
Power Factor Improvement: Systems installed to maximize electrical efficiency, improve voltage, and reduce power loss.
Advanced Machinery: Installation of inverters on process machines and servo meters to dramatically lower power consumption.
Efficient Air Compressors: Use of inverter-type air compressors for reduced energy use.
Water & Resource Management:
Rainwater Harvesting: Collection and preservation of rainwater in dedicated tanks.
Water Conservation: Installation of push-type water taps to minimize waste.
Condensate Recovery: A system in our Dyeing division to reuse water and heat.
Steam Reuse: A dedicated division for capturing and reusing excess steam.
Sustainability Guide: In Harmony with Nature: Our comprehensive Sustainability & Green Office Guide empowers every employee to contribute to our environmental goals. This living document provides actionable strategies to reduce our operational footprint, lower costs, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
Key Rationale for a Green Office: Fulfills our social responsibility, enhances corporate image and culture, reduces consumption (paper, energy, water), boosts employee motivation and productivity.
Employee Action Plan:
1. Energy Conservation:
- Turn off lights in unoccupied rooms.
- Install motion sensors in low-traffic areas.
- Mandate the use of standby/sleep modes on all computers, copiers, and printers.
- Replace all conventional bulbs with high-efficiency CFL or LED alternatives.
2. Paper Reduction:
- Set all printers and copiers to automatic duplex (double-sided) printing.
- Route documents, memos, and faxes electronically.
- Utilize e-filing and digital documentation to avoid hard copies.
- Refrain from printing emails unnecessarily.
- Create notepads from used single-sided paper.
- Optimize formatting (smaller fonts, reduced spacing) to use less paper per document.
3. Sustainable Operations:
- Procurement: Prioritize the purchase of energy-efficient, durable, and recycled-content products. Choose equipment that is refillable, reusable, and recyclable.
- Waste Management: Donate old furniture and equipment. Recycle ink cartridges and establish a reuse center for supplies like binders and folders.
- Resource Use: Provide durable kitchenware instead of disposables and use filtered water pitchers instead of bottled water.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular checks for and repair water leaks.
4. Skills Development:We are committed to training all staff—both new and existing—on our environmental systems and their role in protecting the planet. This includes inviting sustainability experts to contribute to our ongoing training programs.
5. Digital-First System: Our operational model prioritizes digital over paper:
- Secure electronic data preservation and LAN/WAN transfer.
- Web-based portals for document sharing and updates.
- Strong electronic communication between Corporate Office and Factory.
- Office layouts are designed to maximize natural light.
Our Pledge: Through these integrated efforts in people development and environmental stewardship, Modern Group is building a resilient, responsible, and successful future for our company, our employees, and our planet. This guide will be reviewed periodically to ensure we continue to lead and improve.
